Canada SDS No Longer Applicable: What It Means

Recent changes by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have seen the discontinuation of the Student Direct Stream (SDS), a popular expedited processing lane for students from specific countries including India.
What Changes?
All study permit applications will now be processed under the standard stream. This typically means standard processing times will apply, which can be longer than the 20-day turnaround SDS aimed for.
What Should You Do?
- Apply Early: Factor in longer processing times.
- Strong Financials: Without SDS, proving financial stability becomes even more critical. Ensure your GIC and tuition receipts are in order, along with other proof of funds.
- Perfect Documentation: With standard processing, scrutiny can be high. Ensure every document is perfect.
